Danie is the co-owner (with his wife Esme) of the Diving World PADI Dive Centre in Benoni and has been scuba diving since 1976. Dive safety has always been a passion in his life. Danie is also a PADI Master Scuba Dive Instructor and also a qualified EFR Instructor. Danie has been doing underwater photography since 1977 and is currently concentrating on Underwater Videography. He has a Ocean Yacht Skippers ticket as well as a DOL skippers ticket for ski and dive boats. He is a DMAC/EDTC grade IIa Diving medicine physician and registered with the Department of Labour (DOL #293) At the Healthy Eye Clinic he is an Eye Specialist (HPCSA #MP 0182311) doing mainly cataract & refractive surgery :- "Glasses and contact lenses don't go well with watersports". Has Skippers Certificates for Ski Boats and Ocean Yachts. Course in Sports Medicine at the University of Bath, England 1993 -1995 He has a Turbine Helicopter Pilot license.

Bali is an excellent dive destination. Because of all the excellent dive sites all around Indonesia, Bali is sometimes neglected.

Bali is not just a social happy place. It also has some of the best dive sites in the world.
There is no shortage of fish life, plants and corals.

Between Bali and Lombok are long coral reefs.

These are wonderful overgrown gardens of soft and hard corals. With the constant current stream over the corals, abundant life and growth is assured.

Diving in these currents can sometimes be a bit treacherous and is not for the inexperienced divers.

Fish schools and Nudibranchs of Bali

Diving at the Pedang Bai Pier in Bali is an experience not to be missed when you are in Bali.

It’s probably one of the best dive sites there. The water is calm. It’s excellent for macro photography. Great viz and lends itself to good muck diving photography.

Schools of hundreds of fish swarming and moving as one, like a flock of birds. You can watch them for hours. I’m always astonished at how they manage to synchronize so well.

And then there are the nudibranchs and slugs, with all their wonderful shapes and colours. You can spend hours diving on a very small area, just by looking at all the small things.
